Stephen Wiltshire

This guy amazes me. I just sat in awe watching this on TV. He's was ABC News' Person of the Week about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Here Comes the Bride...

OK, my lips are no longer sealed....

EMILY IS ENGAGED!!!!

No, I'm not pregnant at all as some were led to believe, but I found out that my best friend got engaged on Saturday night! I decided not to say anything because I wanted her to be able to break the news first. But since she was in Philly, that was hard to do until last night.

She's marrying Mark's best friend, Chris, and we couldn't be more excited for them! They are planning to marry in June 2009.

Wii Mania

Last night, Jen brought the long-awaited Wii over to my parent's house. You know it's a good game when my parents will play it and enjoy it!

We all had a great time and since Jen doesn't have any real pictures of live Wii playing, I thought I'd add these on to my blog to show the world what fun we had. Enjoy!

Jen and Mark were intense in tennis.

I think, quite possibly, my favorite part of the night, was how realistic we were able to make my mom's Mii look. I think it looks so much like her!

Bennett Birthday Cook-Off

This year, for Mark's step-dad's birthday, he requested a pizza cook-off in which he got to be the judge. Since we all love cooking so much, we obliged and the results were wonderful!

I think this is going to happen more often with all sorts of culinary delights.

Ticean and Amy dress up their shrimp, basil, and sun dried tomato pizza. Yum!

The pizzas baked in the oven

Michael waits patiently for the judging process.

The duct tape on his shirt says "Judge Simon"

Here's all but one of the pizzas that were made.

This was the pizza that Mark and I made
(Chorizo, bacon, gorgonzola cheese, smoked mozzarella, fresh basil, and tomatoes on a whole wheat crust with a roasted garlic alfredo sauce base)

Michael ended up choosing Jake's (our nephew's pizza), but Mark and I still liked our own the best. And isn't that what matters?

And to top it off our niece, Jordan, lost a tooth. A significantly important one I might add!

Eating in Style

It's kinda hard to see, but the bag in the middle (the floral pattern) is my new lunch bag! Isn't it cute?

My resource teacher got it for me and it's going to say "Bennett" in aqua letters.

I love all of the stuff at Thirty-One Gifts. And everything's really well priced. My new lunch bag was only $10.

Looking for a Good Read

I told you last week that I was reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter. Well, I got really into and finished it Sunday night.

Now, I've been a week without any books to read other than The Sacred Way by Tony Jones that Mark and I are doing as our new devotional. It's really good, but I want a fiction book to read.

Since Mark's going to be out of town tonight, I thought I might head over to Joseph-Beth and look for a couple new books with the gift card I left over from almost a year ago (when someone gives me money for books, I tend to get very picky with how I want to spend it).

Here's a list of the books I've been wanting to read, but I am open for suggestions...

All of these have come highly recommended. I can't decide which one I want!

Our TV Debut

As you may or may not remember, back in November, Jen and I got to play a vital role in the success of the Extreme Makeover in KY.

Our episode will be airing February 17th at 8:00. And it's a 2 hour episode!

Make sure you watch it....

Buffy Valentine

Today I received my highly anticipated Buffy valentine from Cameron.

It's so nice to get real mail (not bills or insurance stuff) from people you care about.

Thanks Cameron!

A Work of Art, pt.2

I thought I'd post the pictures of the cakes I made for the Super Bowl party at my parents' house. The cakes were so fun to make and decorate! Em's help on decorating was much appreciated (it always more fun to decorate with somebody)! This was the 3rd time I've made the stadium and the 1st time I've made the football trophy.

I'm just trying to prove that sports can belong in the kitchen.

We were only able to eat the stadium on Super Bowl night, so I took the football trophy to work.

Oh my gosh! Put a cake in a teacher's workroom and it's like gold! The cake had dwindled to a stub by 10:30! It wasn't even lunchtime yet!

I love shoes!

I'm sure I'm one of the last people to learn about this site, but I love it!

There are only a few things that I can I never get enough of: children's books, pictures, ice cream, and SHOES.

Check out Piperlime.com
to get some great deals on shoes.

SCHOOL CANCELLED

Scott County Schools were cancelled today and tomorrow due to illness.
Never have I worked out or gone to a school where they had to cancel due to sickness. It's awesome as a teacher. I somehow avoided the flu that spread so rampantly through our school so I am enjoying two sick-free, snow-free days of school!

I got to eat lunch at Mi Casita (my favorite restaurant) with Mark today between his 2 jobs and loved it!

And let me tell you...I was the coolest teacher yesterday when I told my kids not to come to school until Monday.

(Sorry to all of my Fayette Co. teachers.)
